Overview

Family wealth brings trusts, companies, partnerships, individuals and their investments into one connected view. It helps you understand the family’s economic position without adding up separate reports by hand or counting a shared investment twice. Open Family wealth under Portfolio in the main navigation. The page uses the entities, investments, valuations and income already recorded in your organisation.

Access and visibility

Family wealth is available to verified users in the organisation. The page follows the same organisation access as the rest of InvestSync, so you only see information held in your current organisation.

What you can review

The page starts with the entire family group and shows:
  • Net family wealth.
  • Gross assets and liabilities.
  • Income recorded during the current year.
  • The number of family structures included.
  • Each underlying investment and the effective beneficial interest in it.
  • Shared investment records that have been consolidated once.
Use the Consolidation scope list to move from the family view to one person, trust, company, partnership or estate. The figures update together, so the balance sheet, asset mix and underlying exposure always describe the same scope.

Follow ownership through a structure

The Ownership map shows how people and family structures connect to underlying investments. A percentage between two structures represents the beneficial interest used for the look-through calculation. Use the map when preparing a family meeting, checking a beneficiary’s position, reviewing trustee oversight or explaining how an investment is reached through several structures.

Add an ownership relationship

1

Start the relationship

Choose Add relationship from the top of the Family wealth page.
2

Choose the owner and structure

Select the person or entity that has the beneficial interest, then select the trust, company or partnership they have an interest in.
3

Record the interest

Choose the relationship type and enter the beneficial interest percentage. Add a short note when the basis of the interest will be useful to reviewers.
4

Link any wrapper holding

If the owner also has an investment record for shares or an interest in the structure, choose it under Recorded holding to eliminate. InvestSync will replace that wrapper value with the structure’s underlying assets.
5

Save and review

Choose Save relationship. The family totals, indirect exposures and ownership map update to reflect the new connection.
InvestSync prevents a relationship that would create an ownership loop or take the total beneficial interests in a structure above 100%.

Understand the underlying exposure table

Each row shows the value and income attributed to the selected scope.
  • Direct means the selected person or entity holds the investment directly.
  • Look-through means the investment is reached through another family structure.
  • Family consolidated means the row is shown once for the whole family group.
The Interest column is the effective beneficial interest after following every recorded relationship in the path. Choose the arrow at the end of a row to open the investment record.

Check the consolidation

Open Structure to review recorded relationships and the main consolidation checks. InvestSync highlights ownership loops, positions without a valuation, and shared records included once. Review these checks before relying on the figures for a family meeting, trustee decision or professional report. The quality of the consolidated view depends on complete entity relationships, current investment values and correctly classified liabilities.
