Overview

Connect Google when your organisation wants to use Google Drive for document storage or Google Calendar for investment news reminders. Google is connected once for the organisation. After that, you choose which services to turn on.

Before you start

Confirm which Google account should own the connection and which team members need access to the selected Drive folder or calendar reminders.

Basic and advanced use

  • Basic use: connect Google and turn on Drive storage or calendar reminders.
  • Advanced use: manage Drive access, convert accepted documents in batches, and choose reminder modes for different team members.

Google Drive storage

Store accepted source documents in a Drive folder controlled by your organisation.

Calendar reminders

Add investment news dates to Google Calendar manually or automatically.

Set up Google

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Google.
  2. Select Connect Google.
  3. Confirm the Google account.
  4. Save the connection.
  5. Choose Document storage or Calendar reminders.
Only organisation members with settings access can configure Google.

Google Drive document storage

Use Google Drive storage when your organisation wants source documents to live in its own Drive folder. To set it up:
  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Google → Document storage.
  2. Choose a Drive.
  3. Choose an existing folder or create a dedicated InvestSync folder.
  4. Decide whether current and future InvestSync members should also be marked for Drive access.
  5. Confirm that your organisation controls Drive access.
  6. Save the setup.
After setup, accepted documents can be converted to Google Drive in small batches. You can also restore Google Drive-backed documents to InvestSync storage if your organisation changes its storage approach.
InvestSync membership and Google Drive access are separate. If a person can see a document in InvestSync but does not have access to the selected Drive folder, they may not be able to open it directly in Google Drive.

Calendar reminders

Calendar reminders help turn investment news into follow-up action. Go to Settings → Integrations → Google → Calendar reminders and choose:
  • Manual: you add reminders from individual news items when needed.
  • Automatic: news with an action date or expected date creates reminders for people who have opted in.
This setting is per user, so each team member can choose their own reminder mode.

Good practice

  • Use a dedicated Drive folder for InvestSync documents.
  • Review Drive access whenever team membership changes.
  • Use automatic reminders for people responsible for monitoring investment actions.
  • Keep manual reminders for team members who only need occasional follow-up.
